About us

With the goal to integrate Oaxaca's coastlines to the economic development of Mexico and strengthen the creation of beach destinations in the South Pacific attracting international tourism, the nine Huatulco Bays were chosen because of their unique characteristics, their exceptional beauty and the closeness to important cultural and natural attractors, with no impact on the region's ecology. Surrounded by the jungle of the Sierra Madre del Sur (South Mountain Chain) the nine beautiful bays: San Agustin, Chachacual, Maguey, Organo, Santa Cruz, Chahue, Cacaluta, Tangolunda and Conejos and their 36 beaches represent an unusual attractive for visitors, offering an excellent tourist infrastructure and a wide variety of attractions.

Bahias de Huatulco project, located at the south of the State of Oaxaca, is the most recent and emerged as a link of the first four Integral Planned Centers (IPCs) by the FONATUR (National Fund for Tourism Promotion). Its operation started by the end of 1988. It has a coastline of around 35 Kilometers (22 Miles) in length and 7 Kilometers ( 4.4 Miles) wide at the inner end of Sierra Madre del Sur.

Located at 282 Kilometers (176 Miles) from Oaxaca City, the state capital city, Bahias de Huatulco has an international airport with nonstop flights from Mexico City and there are connections with main country and foreign cities.

From Oaxaca City it is a 25 minutes flight and only 20 minute from Puerto Escondido. By land it is a 240 Kilometers (150 Miles) trip on the federal highway 175 Oaxaca - Pochutla and then another 42 Kilometers (26 Miles) by the highway 200. Another access way is coming from Oaxaca City to Salina Cruz, traveling 267 Kilometers /167 Miles) on the highway 190 which connects with highway 200 driving to Huatulco another 170 Kilometers (106 Miles).
